From gas turbines and ultrafibre water purification technology to LEDs and to GE Predix healthcare software, the basis of the Industrial Internet, the output of GE Hungary’s 12 manufacturing plants and 3technology centers make both GE and Hungary a stronger competitor in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.

 

Our Businesses in Hungary

GE in Hungary is the biggest US investor with 13,500 employees, calling the country a home since 1989. GE has a very large and diverse presence in Hungary, 3 regional business headquarters (Lighting EMEA, Healthcare Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Power & Water), 3 technology centers (Lighting, Healthcare, Power & Water), and the most recent one, the Global Operations Center, Budapest.

 

GE Aviation (Veresegyház)

Did you know that if you fly on a large passenger plane, there is a 60% chance that the plane is powered by GE engines? In 1998, GE Aviation introduced a new competency to Hungary with an aircraft engine spare part repair greenfield facility.

 

GE Energy Management (Budapest, Ózd) business empowers smarter operations by connecting equipments, software and services to protect, control and optimize assets and electrical distribution.  At the plant of Ózd, over a 100.000 pieces of circuit breakers and residual-current devices are manufactured daily, which are widely used in Hungarian households and at industrial environments alike.

 

GE Global Operations, Budapest provides integrated shared services to GE businesses across Europe and beyond, with specialized teams addressing local language, regulations and logistics requirements from one centralized location. GE's multi-functional shared services organizations focused on delivering better outcomes at lower cost for our businesses and our customers.

 

GE Healthcare (Budapest, Szeged) GE Healthcare began operations in Hungary in 1997 as a trade representative of the local business. Today, at its regional sales and service centre for Central and Eastern Europe, GE Healthcare has over 400 employees. The research and development of clinical applications began in 1999  and there is an ongoing expansion.  The world-class research and development centres in Budapest and Szeged currently employ more than 200 software engineers, developing technologies that help clinicians combat cancer and cardiovascular diseases. GE Healthcare’s advanced imaging software aims to help doctors diagnose pathological changes more accurately and at an earlier stage.

 

GE Lighting (Budapest, Nagykanizsa, Zalaegerszeg, Kisvárda, Hajdúböszörmény)

The European Lighting Experience Center based in the business' EMEA headquarters' in Budapest showcases the business’ solutions  to demonstrate GE Lighting capabilities in providing cutting edge technologies, including LED. In 2012, GE Lighting opened its European LED Center of Excellence in Nagykanizsa. The Hungarian center supplies LED solutions to markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

 

GE Oil & Gas (Fót) improves reliability, safety and efficiency through designing and manufacturing intelligent systems and equipment for the oil and gas industry. The Fót manufacturing plant in Hungary has been substantially enlarged with the addition of a new 8,000 square meter manufacturing facility and a new office building of 3,000 square meters in spring 2014.

 

GE Power & Water (Veresegyház) GE Power & Water’s  innovative power solutions developed and manufactured in Veresegyház, Hungary give businesses and communities the ability to generate reliable, fast and efficient power using a variety of fuels anywhere, whether on or off the grid.

 

GE Power&Water (Oroszlány, Tatabánya,) With the focus on treating and reusing water, GE creates water systems for future generations at its Power & Water plant in Oroszlány. Globally, this cutting edge technology purifies wastewater into high quality industrial feedwater or even potable water. The Oroszlány plant in Hungary is the world’s most significant ultrafiltration membrane manufacturing plant in the industry.

GE Working Capital Solutions (Budapest) leverages the financial solutions and industry expertise of GE Capital to offer Accounts Receivable management on a global basis to GE and its affiliates. The Budapest Center of Excellence is WCS’s largest hub with close to 200 Risk and Collections professionals.

Leadership Programs

 

Engineering

The Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) develops technical problem-solving and design skills through advanced courses in engineering and technical projects and presentations to senior leadership that are aligned with business objectives. Diverse experiences may include: systems, analysis, design, quality, reliability, integration and testing.

 

Finance

The Financial Management Program (FMP) develops leadership and analytical skills through classroom training and key assignments. Hands-on experience may include financial planning, accounting, operations analysis, auditing, forecasting, treasury/cash management, and commercial finance.

 

Information Technology

The Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP) develops strong technical and project management skills through a combination of coursework and challenging technical assignments. The program consists of four six-month assignments through one of GE's major business units.

 

Manufacturing/Operations

The Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) is an ideal entry point for engineers with the energy and drive to define and deliver world-class manufacturing processes, products and services. Possible assignments include shop operations, process engineering, advanced manufacturing, global supply chain management, materials management, and environmental health and safety implementation.

 

Software Leadership Programs

Part of GE's investment in leading the Industrial Internet, GE Software Leadership Programs seek to develop and accelerate GE’s next generation of software technology leaders. These programs offer a multi-year experience with assignments tied to GE’s key software initiatives, projects, as well as classroom seminars, personalized coaching and development based on technical, business, and leadership areas.
